MATCH MONDAY: Meet Celine & Annabelle
Celine and Annabelle have been matched for eight months, and their bond is already making a huge impact.
The Beginning
Celine: “I grew up with a Big Sister myself and remember feeling so special—like the ‘cool kid’ who got to play games and have someone’s sole focus on me. Years later, while studying to be a Social Service Worker, I knew I wanted to give that same feeling to a Little. When I heard Annabelle’s story last September, I knew instantly I wanted to meet her. We connected right away!”
Annabelle: “My sister Haley had a Big Sister and I wanted one too!”
Life as a Match
Whether they are staying in or heading out, these two stay busy! They love:
- Baking and making bracelets at home.
- Taking Celine’s dog, Moose, for walks.
- Playing basketball outside or going swimming at the YMCA.
- Attending BBBS events like the Christmas dinner and trips to Flying Squirrel!
A Special Tradition
Annabelle: “I love going to dinners at home and going out to restaurants together.”
Celine: “We are excited for the weather to get nicer so we can spend even more time outdoors!”
A Memory to Last a Lifetime
Their favorite memory together so far was a very personal one. They spent an afternoon making handmade Christmas cards and getting dressed up to deliver them to the residents at Sumac Lodge.
For Celine, this was deeply meaningful as it is where her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother lived. Getting to share that moment with Annabelle and bring smiles to the residents—including Celine’s grandmother—was a highlight for both of them.
The Impact
Annabelle: “Celine brings a lot of joy to my life and makes it so much better. I’m in a better mood and having so much more fun!”
Celine: “Being a Big makes me feel like I am fulfilling my purpose. Annabelle was meant to be in my life, and I look forward to being by her side every step of the way as she grows up.”
